What's happening this Summer in Mayo!
With so much happening in Mayo during 2013, we have singled out just some of the events happening in the area during the Summer months, kicking off with the Mayo International Choral Festival in Castlebar followed by the River Moy Half Marathon in Ballina this May, with events going right up until the end of August 2013.

Fishing on the World Famous River Moy, Ballina, Co Mayo: The Moy offers something for everyone with fast running fly waters as well as some of the with some of the most productive bait and spinning Salmon waters to be found anywhere. If you are a novice fisher person, or an expert angler, fishing the River Moy is a opportunity not to be missed. Fishing season runs from 1st February to end of September. National Museum of Ireland-Country Life, Turlough, Co Mayo: Suitable for all the Family, the award winning Museum is all about discovering the story of Irish country life between 1850 and 1950; a history which older visitors will remember clearly and enjoy reminiscing on. Suitable for all ages, the Museum is a must-see attraction for everyone's list and its FREE! Its a national collection, comprehensive and unique, presented in an engaging and interactive manner- not a dusty boring display in sight! Exhibits over the four floors include original artefacts and displays, captivating archival video footage, Entrance to temporary exhibitions are also free. The Museum runs constantly changing programmes of workshops, events asnd festivals for adults, families and schools. Admission to all events and workshops is free but booking is required. The Jackie Clarke Collection, Ballina, Co Mayo: Mayo County Council's Jackie Clarke Collectioncontains over 100,000 items spanning 400 years of Irish history. The collection includes many unique documents that scholars had believed to be lost, including sole surviving copies of publications, rare handbills and proclamations, unpublished manuscripts and political writings. The collection was put together during the lifetime of one man, Jackie Clarke(1928-2000). The earliest documents date from the early1600s, including a 1617 conveyance of land in Cork between the familyof William Penn who went on to found the State of Pennsylvania. The collection continues up until 2000, the year of Jackie Clarke's death.
