Well after the madness that is December, Christmas and Christmas party time, January offers some down time to staff and management of the hotel. However we quickly commenced preparing for the forthcoming Spring and Easter period.

St. Valentines Day fell on a Tuesday this year, not the most romantic of mid week days, none the less, we enjoyed the company of many lovers dining and staying with us before the Tuesday and the weekend after, we do hope you enjoyed yourselves.
And Congratulations to that couple who got engaged whilst staying with us over Valentines weekend, you know who you are (Brian & Hannah) . We also had the pleasure of hosting the wedding receptions for some newly married couples, 'Congratulations to you all'

And staying with all things Wedding, we experienced one of the very best Wedding Showcase's EVER in the hotel; February 19th saw a bumper number of exhibitors, Brides and Grooms visit the Downhill, hosting an extravaganza of a wedding fashion show and all the most current and hip wedding accessories on display for wedding couples to peruse, we Thank you all, who contributed to creating this successful Showcase..Keep in touch with our Wedding Co-Ordinator, who will advise you of our next Wedding Showcase.

Happy St Patricks Day, the best time to celebrate being Irish and this was certainly the case with the fantastic Ballina St. Patricks Day parade, again hosting a record number of floats, paraders and novelty acts, Congrats to the team organising this Ballina event.
Congratulations to our wedding couples who tied the knot during March and are now Mr & Mrs, and all the children who celebrated making their Confirmation, with after party events at the Downhill.
The start of March, the ladies from Bonniconlon ICA guild held its annual ICA Fashion Show at the Downhill House Hotel. We were delighted to be a part of this fabulous event and monies raised went towards the brand new Bonniconlon Community Centre..power to the people. Thank you ladies.
April
Easter time, this April and I'm sure we would all agree the weather wasn't that bad..and we had the pleasure of looking after many families and couples during the Easter break, with a bumper Easter Cubs Camp happening twice daily every day in the hotel Leisure Club..Easter Sunday saw our Cubs Camp explore the Downhill Gardens looking for their Easter egg.
The Brian Moylett Memorial Golf Classic 2012 was held on the Saturday 28th April 2012; even in the toughest of economic years, the 9th annual Golf Classic, played at Enniscrone Golf Course, raised in excess of €4000 for local charities and beneficiaries, we would like to congratulate local man Mr. Higgins who was a very popular winner of this years Brian Moylett Memorial Trophy. We would like to thank all who took part and helped out in anyway. All monies collected will be donated to Saint Vincent de Paul in the coming weeks.
May Time
Weddings Weddings Weddings..May is that time of year when Spring love is in the air and there was plenty of that going round. Congrats to all our beautiful May brides, pictures to follow real soon.

May was a really busy month, with coach tours of tourists staying with us, from all over; USA, German, UK. and French visitors. Again we have some really lovely pics taken by out guests, who absolutely loved visiting North Mayo and were well impressed by Ballina and its surrounds.
Fishing...The 2011 season on the River Moy in Ballina, will be remembered as a bumper year for Salmon anglers. With a reported catch of over 12,000 salmon now confirmed, this year is almost on par with 1996 when the reported catch exceeded 12,500, firmly establishing the Moy as Europe's premier wild Atlantic Salmon fishery, and further endorsing Ballina's title as Salmon Capital of Ireland.
