Wedding Showcase 2011
The spring flowers were blooming in the Downhill gardens on Sunday 3rd April, as over thirty wedding exhibitors displayed their wares to the eager wedding couples.
Couples were greeted with drinks on arrival and entry into a free draw for accommodation and dining vouchers in the hotel restaurant.
The wedding showcase commenced at 2pm and the ballroom was packed with visiting wedding couples from all over the county. The array of wedding suppliers varied from dazzling beautiful wedding dresses supplied by “Your Perfect Day” in Castlebar, accompanied by handsome Grooms from Olivers menswear in Ballina, and for the mother of the bride a beautiful array of Spring/Summer ensembles from Finesse, in Foxford.
The Downhill House Hotel recently nominated in Ireland's Top 100 Wedding Suppliers list as voted for by the brides and grooms of WeddingsOnline.ie.

The Brian Moylett Memorial Golf Classic 2011 was held on the Friday 8th April 2011; even in the toughest of economic years, the 8th annual Golf Classic, played at Enniscrone Golf Course, raised in excess of €8000 for local charities and beneficiaries, we would like to congratulate local man John Rush who was a very popular winner of this years Brian Moylett Memorial Trophy. with plans already underway for the 9th Annual Golf Classic already planned for 2012, contact Kay, for further information on the 2012 Golf Classic.

Downhill House Hotel was a finalist in the 2010 Gold Medal Award Top 3 star Hotel category and was honored to be included in the prestigeous list of fellow hotels from the four corners of Ireland. And while the Downhill did not leave with the top prize, to be a finalist endorsed its commitment to the Hospitality industry in Ireland. Golf...Congrats to the good folks at the North & West Coast links Golf who had cause to clink their glasses in Valencia, Spain in November 2010 as it accepted the award for 'European Golf Destination of the Year 2011' from the European Golf Tour Operators. For local courses Enniscrone & Carne in Belmullet, part of the N&WCL, this is a fantastic achievement considering 350 international tour operators from 52 countries chose the North & West over stiff competition from the world famous Old Course at St.Andrews as well as Spannish & Portugeese venues. Congrats to John, Justin and all the team at the North & West Coast Links.
Fishing...The 2010 season on the River Moy in Ballina, will be remembered as a bumper year for Salmon anglers. With a reported catch of over 12,000 salmon now confirmed, this year is almost on par with 1996 when the reported catch exceeded 12,500, firmly establishing the Moy as Europe's premier wild Atlantic Salmon fishery, and further endorsing Ballina's title as Salmon Capital of Ireland.
